Adobe 6.0 Reader and Netscape 4.77

Our company uses Netscape 4.77 and I've created an msi to uninstall Acrobat 5.0 and using the Adobe 6 msi to install. All that works well except when I try to launch a pdf from Netscape, it wants a plugin. I know in the past it's wanted nppdf.so installed. Anyone have any experience with this. It works fine in IE. (and don't say get rid of Netscape 4.77, that's in the works :))

Install reader from the vendor on a clean build..

Run a capture.

Run Netscape and load a page with a pdf on it.

Now you will have the keys and files in the capture that Netscape expects to be there in order to load pdf files.

Add these keys and files to your package.

Unfortunately, I'm never able to open a pdf via Netscape with 6.0 to get a capture....

So your saying that the Adobe supplied install doesnt setup the Netscape plugin?

Yes, that's exactly it. I found that once I manually replace the plugin from program files\adobe\acrobat 6.0\reader\browser\nppdf32.dll to program files\netscape\communicator\programs\plugin\nppdf32.dll it works fine. I'm going to try making the install an mst and see if it will capture the replacing action.

You could always make a custom action to copy the file to the right location during the installation.....seems like the best answer to me.
