How do I unistall a failed application from software center

I have an application that was deployed by SCCM and the user has manually installed the x64 version. Every time the user restart the machine the x86 application start to download and request the user to uninstall the current for the installation to continue.

Apart from the usual user education message that is obligatory in these situations about installing unauthorised software, you have a few options.

  • You could put the user/machine in an exception for the collection in SCCM - so they're not targeted for the installation.
  • In the same vein, you could query ARP as part of your collection building and if XXX software title (the 64bit version) is present then exclude from the collection.
  • Package the 64bit version and insist that they have the packaged version of the software - uninstalling their manually installed version and replacing it with your package.

Hope that helps,
