Kace 1000 - upgrading to IE 8?

Can we upgrade to IE using patching or do we have to through distribution? If we can do it through patching how? Thanks Ron

You can use either or to do the upgrade.I personally like doing stuff like this through distribution, but it doesn't matter, whatever is easier for you.

  • Sorry just read your full post. What you can do is create a smart label use this as the criteria:
Title contains = Explorer 8, status = active, impact = critical. That'll get the installer and the patches. - dchristian 12 years ago
  • That will only do updates on machines that have IE 8 installed on it. - rwatson626 12 years ago

I believe that patching will just give the machine updates for which ever IE version is installed, not upgrade to the newer version. If so, it would probably upgrade to IE 9 rather than IE 8.

  • Jeff, We are running Windows XP so IE 9 is not an option. - rwatson626 12 years ago
  • Ah, your right on that. I think dchristian is right though. A distribution would probably be a better way to go. - WGM_Jeff 12 years ago
