MSI self-repair triggered by key file on network share

Hi,

I have created a MSI which self-repairs when a registry entry does not exist in HKCU. This is working fine, however, I'd also like a self-repair to run when a file is missing from a network drive. Any ideas on how I go about this considering that the MSI is deployed by SCCM (system context) so any references to that network share during installation will not exist.

Basically I want the repair to run if a particular file is accidentally deleted by the user on the network share.

Thanks

  • You partially answered it: "... MSI is deployed by SCCM (system context) so any references to that network share during installation will not exist."

Grant them read-only in that network share so that they cannot accidentally delete files. - dj_xest 6 years ago
  • Yeh, I was going to say set up the network share with the correct permissions so they can not delete the file by accident. - Badger 6 years ago

You cannot trigger self heal for network files. Self heal happens only when any of the keypath is missing.
