Problem with Get/set name from a file
Hello everyone,
I just created a new reference image (Windows 10 pro x 64 build 1709) and i'm struggling to get/set the computers names from a file.
Basically, this is what i'm doing:
I created a text like (computername.txt) who looks like this:
serial number 1 = computer name 1
Serial number 2 = ......
I then zipped the text file and SetComputerName_x64.exe together.
On my K2000 appliance, i create a post installation task where i choose "SDA Boot environment (Windows)" and where the zip file is uploaded. On the full command line i typed:
SetComputerName_x64.exe /rdf:computername.txt /dfk:$Serial
Every time the task runs, it fails with the following message "the specify file can't not be fond - error code: 2" (or somethling like that).
When i open the XML file provided by KAce, everything looks ok: the file name and the path are good. On the hard Drive, before the cleanup, i can see the task and my exe and text file.
I've tried almost everything but i keep getting the same error.
Does someone know how to fix it?
ps: i use Kace 2000 version 5.1.84

When you compressed the files, did you right click on the folder and create the zip file, or did you select the files themselves? If you selected the folder, then when the zip archive is extracted it will include the folder path. Before cleanup runs check c:\KACE\applications for the ID of the install task and make sure that the files are present as specified in the tasks.xml file. - chucksteel 6 years ago

i finally found my mistake: iIwas making a zip file from a folder and not directly from the two files. So, after the folder was unzipped i had one subfolder inside.
I directly made a zip from the files and now it works.

Looks pretty good to me. I've not used serial number, but the one I use for mac addresses looks pretty similar. Here is a screenshot of what the task looks like on my K2, what the zip file looks like and what the text file looks like.
Make sure that your text file doesn't have extra spaces. Make sure that your zip file doesn't contain any extra folders or anything, just the two files. And maybe try zipping it with the one built into windows. I've had issues in past using winrar or 7zip for these sort of things. So I stick with windows zipping things up when I want the most compatibility.
