Removing an MSI

Hi all,

The subject to be honest is a bit vague, but i will explain.

Have a product called Crystal Report 9.2 installed on many PC's and I have packaged up Crystal Reports 11. The issue is that CR 9.2 does not remove correctly. We deploy applications through GPO and it hangs when it says "Removing managed software Crystal Reports 9.2.
I then put it on a test machine i have and Right clicked and Uninstalled it, and it hanged again so I Ended the MSIexec.exe process and it then continued to uninstall.

My question is how do i find out what bit it is stopping on, i did a log file and it was about 15 meg and i didnt know what to look for.

Any advice would be great as i need to find a way to put on Crystal Reports 11. I did try to put it on top of 9.2 version but the programme still called 9.2 and it self repaired itself.

Cheers all.

If the uninstall hangs as you suggest then that is the time to look at the end of the logfile and see what is going on. You should then be able to see what the last command was executed.

It sounds like the software is waiting for something to stop or close (e.g. webserver, service, open file). I only have a vague memory of CR but doesn't it include a webserver of sorts?
