Softgrid and Adobe Reader 8.1
I have created a sequence for Adobe Reader 8.1 using SoftGrid 4.2. I am seeing issues with integration of IE and virtual Adobe Reader. I streamed virtual reader to a machine which also had local Reader installed. When i double click on a pdf file on the desktop, by default virtual Adobe is opened as SoftGrid owns the FTAs. However when I try to open a PDF file from a website, it opens it with local Adobe Reader instead of defaulting to virtual Adobe. Has anyone else seen this behavior and is there a sequencing work-around for this?

I've come across this before, but did not find a work-around either! We ended up using SCCM 2007 to deploy Adobe Reader as it is a common application and is used by many other softgrid applications, and SoftGrid currently cannot interact with other virtual applications so it was not a good decision to virtualize Adobe Reader(until 4.5?)

Vegas rules apply - what happens in the bubble, stays in the bubble.
We've done this for a lot of the customers we've deployed SoftGrid to - package IE and Adobe Reader into a "suite" that included a specific URL for a intranet homepage or to an extranet site that included OCX controls, java and Adobe Reader. One medical center had a huge searchable db driven PDF library and wanted the SG delivered browser to 'own' any FTA's with retreived PDF's from the web/db app that they didn't want to touch the base image with the specific java version included. We also created a custom Icon to deliver instead of the IE Icon so as not to confuse it with the default on the box IE.
