Role:

The Desktop Engineering Team manages the design, implementation and support of TD AMERITRADE's desktop environment, which includes Windows XP workstations, laptops and Wyse thin client devices. Responsibilities include defining hardware standards, engineering and securing the standard desktop platform, architecture and design of our Software Distribution infrastructure, product and system lifecycle management, end point protection security suite and 3rd level operational support.

This position primarily assists with the overall design, plan, delivery and maintenance of technical projects and initiatives. The focus of this position is the overall delivery of technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Create engineered solutions for medium-to-complex initiatives according to specified requirements and design and review/approve project requirements

  • Identify research, diagnose and escalate (as needed) production problems such as defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in systems functions, outputs, and content

  • Perform upgrades / maintenance activities as well as troubleshoot system issues by providing 3rd level support

  • Continually research, evaluate and provide documented recommendations for new technologies and tools within the Information Technology field

  • Present technology roadmaps to members of technology management as well as business partners

    Experience:

    Requirements:

  • Experience in a large corporate multi-domain/multi-site organization

  • 4+ years developing and deploying unattended operating system installations for workstations/desktops/laptops using utilities such as Bart PE and\or Win PE

  • Extensive scripting experience utilizing a variety of languages such as VB Script, C#, Perl, VB.NET, Powershell and/or WinBatch or other programming languages.

  • Must possess a minimum of 4 years experience (direct experience, including best practices) in Engineering, including knowledge of computer/network systems infrastructure requirements and standards

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently with minimal error and guidance

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of associates in the organization

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required

  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer certification preferred

  • Financial services experience strongly preferred

  • Designing and architectural experience implementing SMS/SCCM as well as experience deploying applications

  • Experience troubleshooting and enhancing desktop security and configuration management through Group Policy Objects (GPO) as well as the ability to create custom policies

  • Experience with desktop virtualization technologies such as Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp

  • Solid knowledge of the registry and file system security

  • A solid understanding of networking concepts and technologies including: Ethernet, TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, and DHCP are required
