What is Group Policy Software Installation

You've got a "secret weapon" in the box already. Group Policy Software deployment or GPSI for short. GPSI enables you to take industry-standard MSI files and deploy them to your client machines. It doesn't have to be confusing, but you do have to do it right, or it simply won't work.

Group Policy Software Installation is an amazing little super power built right into Active Directory and Group Policy. The first time you see it working, you almost can't believe how cool it is.

Full disclosure time: Group Policy Software Installation does have some downsides, though. When it doesn't work, it can be kind of a bear to troubleshoot and there is no way to deploy items when users are already logged on. That is, Group Policy Software Installation only runs when users log on.

In this video, I'll show you how to quickly deploy an MSI package using Group Policy – and get it right, the first time.

Like I said, it's "kind of like magic" the first time you see it work, so with these tips, you'll make magic in no time !
