Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard | Distiller extraction
Hello All
I'm new to the packaging scene and one of the challenges I have been given is to provide the Adobe Distiller only to a collection of end users.
I have trawled through the internet but cannot find anyway of providing extracting distiller part of the package only to provide the functionality of creating PDF's / combining etc.
Any pointer to get me started would be of great help.

The feature is called 'Distiller'. Either create a transform with just that feature selected or use the ADDLOCAL property on the command line.
Acrobat 9, included the distiller, so just install that.
Without trying to insult you... if you are really new.
Everybody should have Adobe Reader, to view PDFs.
Only a few should be able to create PDFs, with the Adobe route, you need Acrobat Std (or Pro). That is a licensed product and comes at a cost.
v9 is out of support now, does not work on win8.1 x64, I think it has issues with x64, so may work on an x86 OS. But you should probably get a newer version.
Remember you can create PDFs in Office 2007 and later.
You could also try using PDF Creator, a free utility that allows you to print anything to a PDF format. Office only allows you to PDF office docs (not TXT files for example)
Finally, have you thought about asking Adobe themselves? Occasionally even they do provide a morsel of helpful information. - EdT 8 years ago
