Agent does not show in Control Panel and Inventory does not update

I am doing a deployment for Windows 7 base image and Agent 6.4.180.

When I install the agent though post installation(imaging) and manual installation, the agent does not show up in the control panel.  The agent also does not update the inventory.

If I uninstall the agent and reinstall the agent again, the agent shows up on the inventory.

Does anyone recommend a good way to start troubleshooting this?

  • When you say Control Panel do you mean the Programs and Features component? If so, the Dell Kace agent no longer appears in that list. - rockhead44 8 years ago
  • I believe that started in version 6.0 because there were people who would go and uninstall the agent from their computers and this caused issues for admins. They hid this from programs and features because of it.

If you have systems that are having issues checking into the k1, I'd recommend getting a kapture state to find out what the issue could be.

  • After the installation have you checked the amp.conf file to make sure that the hostname of the K1000 is getting set correctly? - chucksteel 8 years ago
  • I compared the amp.conf and the amp_auto.conf with a problem machine and a working machine and they are the same. I also ran the amptools.exe host=hostname.domain.com and it still did not report into the inventory. When I look at the kagent.log I keep getting "Client socket failed read (0 bytes read)". Could that be an issue? - Senathon 8 years ago
