Agent Download install with Admin credentials

I am trying to set up a download library for my users. It will be a place that employees can go to download "safe" software with out having to reach out to me or my people to get admin authorization. I thought Kace would handle this task perfectly, but when the user goes to the download section and selects an app, they are still prompted for admin credentials. Is there a way I can get around that. or pre-add the credentials?

There is no authentication needed if the user is logged on to the user portal already. User shouldn't be prompted for any admin credentials. Please give more details on how the user download is setup and what admin credentials are prompted.

Comments:
  • when the user logs in and goes to"User Downloads", they will click on one of the applications, it will download, but when they install it, they get a prompt to enter username and password, at that point they call me to enter the admin credentials. I have a mix of exe and msi install applications. - sratliff 5 years ago
    • When you configure a user download to allow the end user to download the software from user portal and install it on their own, K1 doesn't do any thing special. If the software needs admin access and the logged in user doesn't have it then admin credentials will be prompted.

On the other hand, if you set up a Script under User download which installs an application then the end user will have to click Install on the user portal and the software will get installed without asking for an admin credential as that gets installed with the help of K1 Agent which already is running under SYSTEM account. - AbhayR 5 years ago
