I am trying to install Altova XML Spy 2012. I am able to install the application silently and disable the updates and registration for current user. There are registry keys being written into HKCU for disabling the updates. When I launch it as a new user the registry I am still getting the updates pop-up. I tried using Active Setup but no luck. Can anyone please help me on how to disable the updates for allusers.

  • Are new users getting the registry keys for disabling the updates? Have you checked for a "first run" setting in the HKCU registry? It may well be that on first run, any existing settings are overwritten. As a new user, try running a capture tool to record what changes are made when you answer the pop-ups. Then add them to your package.
  • No new users are not getting the hkcu registry keys. Application is writing to hkcu when it is launched. I added those HKCU registries to my package. But it is only working for current user. When I launch the application as a new user it is not getting the HKCU registry keys even though I used active setup.

  • Create component with those HKCU keys so that when active setup run , it copy those files to user HKCU..
    • I tried doing that but no luck. I don't know why the activesetup is not copying the HKCU to allusers.
  • All I just want is to copy the HKCU to allusers even before the application is launched. Can someone please help me.
