Best Practices

I wanted to ask for some assistance on the matter....im in need of finding a way to backup live barebone machines. We currently have SCCM implemented to handle deployments of new machines. As far as im aware, you are unable to do a live "build and captures", and im not sure if that would be best practice either. I've done some research on Altiris/Symantec products, and although it seems it may handle live backups, I wanted to reach out to you experts for suggestions.
