Best way to block Chrome installs? Esp. through adobe

Chrome installs that are bundled with adobe are a big pain here, as users like to update, click through, and then get confused when it's installed. Is there an easy way to block chrome entirely? The only thing I can think of is adding chrome.exe to the disallowed program list, but that might only stop it from opening, not installing.

 

If this has already been asked and aswered then feel free to point me in the right direction, I just didn't see it. Thanks in advance.

      • I noticed the other day that you do not need to be an admin to install Chrome. All of our users are locked down. We block the installer. The only bad thing is it changes with each version. Here is what we block. I'm not sure if it's the same with the Adobe install?

        googleupdate.exe
        googleupdatesetup.exe
        28.0.1500.72_chrome_installer.exe

        When installing Chrome as a non admin, and you click no on the UAC prompt you get this message below. If you click yes it installs to the %localappdata%.

  • Google provides GPO templates which you can try to block the install with. We use it to disable auto updates for Chrome.
