SoftGrid will do file type associations and DDE. You don't have to publish the shortcut to a start menu to make this functionality happen either. The SoftGrid client pulls file type association configuration data from the server and overrides the local client configuration for those associations.

[:)]Application should have minimum of 1 Shortcut. If no shortcuts are present then the application should be sequenced in a Suite along with the application which needs it.

Typically applications that have no entry points are used by other applications. ODBC is a great example of this.

Currently, two applications that are virtualized in distinct packages/instances cannot interact together. The Softgrid 4.5 beta addresses this and your question may very well become more common once this functionality debuts outside of beta releases.

Yes an application shortcut would be needed to trigger the startup but keep in mind you can publish that shortcut to the startup folder in your start menu to launch on login or you could trigger the shortcut via command line with sfttray.exe.

There may be some applications which provide a shortcut or icon, but you normally wouldn't use or publish the shortcut provided. For example a web browser plug-in - I recently sequenced (w/ SoftGrid) JInitiator 1.3.1.29 which has no shortcut & only shows a blank or default icon. A shortcut to the web browser would need to added in the Application Wizard & will make the bind to the targeted, sequenced application.

I would want to say 'Yes' to that as well, but I usually let the applications make the association or manually override when needed. Maybe someone else can chime in on that question.
