Can we block windows 10 V2004 Update?

Windows 10 2004 is causing issues with sql connection and we would like to block it for people from installing on their machine for the time being. Can this be done via Kace?

  • if you are allowing Windows Updates, then nope.
    You will need to silence Windows Updates via GPO.

    You could try to create a script that generates this key on their computers?

  • You can use local GPO to block the update on specific PCs (push with a script) or use domain GPO on OUs to block it there.

    Looks like Win 10 2004 stops TLS 1.2 and below for security reasons, kind of like how 1709(ish) stopped SMBv1 so the TLS securing SQL might be the actual issue? - JS_DC 3 years ago

Yes, you can turn off the windows 10 updates. In settings, you will see a Windows update and settings, then click on it and turn off the automatic updates of Windows.
