Can you run a script from the SMA appliance itself?

Hi there,

I'm looking into creating an onboarding ticket process in KACE, where once the ticket it approved by the approver, the user is automatically created in Active Directory. However, I can't seem to find any clarity on whether the scripting portion requires that the script be run from a system with the KACE Agent installed and running. Or, is it possible that we can run a powershell script from the appliance itself to create the users?

Thanks!

KACE is only able to pull info from AD, it does not have update\add\delete capabilities.

KACE can only do LDAP queries to request info FROM the AD.... But that being said, you could write a VBS or Powershell script to automate adding a user to a particular group(auto run it with the KACE Agent via your own computer with your own domain credentials)... the trick would be figuring out how/where to execute it from since it would have to be run as a user with rights to modify Domain Groups.

  • Thanks for the info!

We don't use the agent currently, but it sounds like as I thought, if we spun up a single VM with the agent running specifically for this purpose we could use it to run scripts using credentials with the proper access. Not how I was hoping we could achieve this, but at least it still sounds like it will be possible :) - TorontoMapleJays 1 year ago
