First of all, concurrent licensing and other types of license control in SoftGrid is not really usable with offline clients, but I take it that this is non-offline concurrent usage, right?

Couple of things to enable license control:

1. You need to create provider policy that has "enforce licensing" turned on, or modify the default policy in that regard
2. Said policy needs to be either a) the default one for server group through which your client accesses applications or b) if default policy does not enforce licensing you need to modify application's OSD to include "..?Customer=policyname" on HREF attribute, where policyname is the name of the additional policy you created
3. You need to restart VAS service for it to read modifications to provider policies
4. For those applications that need licensing, you must change License Group -setting to match licensing group you want to use; if enforce licensing is in use at server group's default policy, all of your applications published through that group need some licensing group set

So, no tricks just logical steps ;-)

Also, was the training worth it? We're looking at sending someone now but its a bit spendy.

Well, I was the instructor not the student on the course so I'd say it's always worth it. ;-)

But seriously, for the past over 2 years I have taught the course I'd say at least my students have all been quite satisfied [for what I know] with the course, even those that have some or much past experience with the product. This is mostly because a) you get all the relevant things in one pretty good training manual (handy as a reference), b) you usually get to ask questions about some apps you already might have tried and failed to sequence and/or about your specific infra-scenarios, and c) because there's more depth (those tips&tricks type of things) to the product than appears on surface so you'll always learn something new. This of course applies to most other software as well.

Having said that, of course it also depends on the instructor how much "more" he/she can add to the things you already can read out from the slides/book. But generally I think people regard SG training as quality one worth the cost. I'm biased, naturally.

: ) Yeah... I'd say your biased! The main reason we are looking at training is because there is literally no decent documentation on the product or specific product sequences.
