Create a My Device filter

Hi I would like to create a filter/label in inventory devices so it just shows My Devices, i.e. the devices of the logged in user. think of the Servicedesk, when you logon and go to the service desk you see only your tickets until you change the view.. That's what I want for devices.

Thanks.

  • Please define "my devices".

Also, why? - chucksteel 4 years ago
  • Sorry, I should have been more specific... If you login to the User Console, you will see My Devices... I am trying to get the same view, just devices belonging to the logged in user in the Admin console.

Why...? I want to give people easy RDP access to their computer. If they login, see their machine the can use the action menu. - chrischunsi 4 years ago
    • Instead of giving users access to the admin console, you can generate a RDP file for them. It's actually a plain text file that you can create using a script. Here is the documentation:

  • Thanks Chucksteel... The problem I was trying to over come was creating 500 of these, each with the users Desktop computer name pre-populated. The above seemed a quick win. - chrischunsi 4 years ago
    • If you can setup a website with a connection to the SMA database you can create a self service method to accomplish this. I created a PowerApp to do this, although we didn't end up deploying it to campus. - chucksteel 4 years ago
  • If you also look under "Users" you will also be able to open up each user account and see the assigned devices for each, and you have the option to nominate the primary device if the user has more than one. That is driven from Settings>General Settings - Hobbsy 4 years ago
  • Thanks Hobbsy, we have that all set up. The problem I am trying to over come is that if I log in to the user console I see just my devices but no action menu, so can not launch the RDP session. If I log in to the Admin console, I see the action menu but I also see every device, not just my own - chrischunsi 4 years ago
