Custom Field query: - How to Select Value for Specific User and not get a list?

I am trying to figure out how I can enter the USER.ID variable in a query: under Custom Fields.  I'd like to query the USER_FIELD_VALUE table where FIELD_ID = '1' for the specific User submitting the ticket.

query: SELECT DISTINCT(FIELD_VALUE) FROM USER_FIELD_VALUE WHERE FIELD_ID = '1' AND USER.ID = USER_FIELD_VALUE.USER_ID AND USER.ID = <USER>

So the question is: Do Custom Field queries support a variable?  If so, what is it?

As far as I am aware, custom fields do not support variables, if they did, some aspects of my KACE life over the years would have been much easier ;o)

What you are asking for is obviously similar to a ticket rule, but the custom field has a disadvantage, namely there is no Select query to provide the variable contents in the same way.

  • With that being the case, I created a new UserVoice request: https://kace.uservoice.com/forums/82699-sma-k1000/suggestions/44064231-allow-user-variable-in-service-desk-custom-field-q
