Dell Amp agent not present - Single machine provisioning

Trying to do a single machine Provisioning but i get a error that the Amp agent is absent, but i can browse right to the KBox where the AmP agent is stored and execute it from there. Anyone seen this before, or know how to troubleshot this?

  • When you say you can browse to the KBox and see the client, are you doing that from the target machine? I'm wondering if there is something preventing the target computer from reaching the client share on your KBox. - chucksteel 10 years ago
  • I can browse from the target machine and from my laptop. Checked the security setting and everyone has rights to execute the file. I even executed it from the target machine by browsing to the folder on the target machine. . - CEads 10 years ago
  • Your firewall, AV, ACL or other softaware restrictions may be preventing it being allowed to run since the MSI is not on the local drive. What do the system and security logs show? - SMal.tmcc 10 years ago

I've just resolved this issue for myself. I had a single PC where an agent upgrade from 5.4 to 5.5 failed. It would fail each time I attempted to provision, even when set to remove the agent.

I even tried downloading the agent MSI and running directly from the PC in question. MSIexec.exe gave classic error of "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." wanting to be pointed to the MSI again.

Fix was to delete orphaned registry keys related to KACE and the agent. Simply search HKLM for "kace" and deteled anything that came up. Maybe not the preferred method of resolution, but effective.

P.S. If you don't know what you're doing in Windows' registry, don't use this fix.
