Dell K2000 Image Capture

Hello forum. New user here and probably a newbish question. My question is, when I pxe boot into K2000 and want to capture an image from a laptop. Do I capture the C: Recovery as well as the D: OS NTFS? I would think I capture just the OS image but in doing so that image size is well over 200gigs large....Does this image compress somehow  when being captured? Or am I capturing everything off that 200gig HD.....again sorry for the newbie question...

It really depends. If you have a recovery partition that probably means you are trying to image a factory installed OS on the machine. Are you using sysprep? If you capture both Recovery and OS partitions then you will have to format and create those partitions on your pre-deployment tasks on your image. If you just capture the OS then you can get away with just doing one partition. The size of the image depends on what you have on there. If you have 200GB used on your drive then expect a rather large image file. (Doesnt matter if you have a 200GB or 4TB drive, if you're only using 30 gigs of it then expect around a 12GB image file) I you do WIM Image it will compress it down but it won't dedup like the K-Image will.

Definitely sounds like you are trying to image a factory installed OS. Restart, follow this article, https://support.software.dell.com/k2000-systems-deployment-appliance/kb/121734
