Email Issues with K1000 appliance

We've had pop3 and smtp set up on each of our queues for at least a year now. All of a sudden after last wednesday it has stopped working and we just get a bunch of unexplained errors. We're using Office 365 Exchange Online, has anyone else experienced this issue recently?

Some of the errors:

kace2) [127.0.0.1] F=<FETCHMAIL-DAEMON@kace2> temporarily rejected RCPT <xxxx@kace2.mccarthy.com>: Could not complete sender verify

SMTP error: 451 Temporary local problem - please try later

Aug  5 09:23:20 kace2 fetchmail[38997]: Query status=3 (AUTHFAIL)

Aug  5 09:23:21 kace2 fetchmail[38997]: Authorization failure on xxxxx@mccarthy.com@mdw-efz.ms-acdc.office.com

  • Upgrade to 10.2, I reckon KACE missed the email tests in servicedesk for the 10.1 version..... (again!!)
    • That was our plan last night until it failed due to DB issues....so have to get that figured out now!

It appears that you have 2 issues based on the output you posted.

1) You do not have a DNS MX record for kace2.mccarthy.com

 2) The credentials for the Pop3 mailbox that Fetchmail is trying to connect is incorrect.

  • So we've never had a DNS MX record for kace2.mccarthy.com so not sure why that would have changed all of a sudden. Also we verified the credentials by logging into the mailbox directly and it worked, that's why we can't figure out why it's giving a credentials error.

An upgrade to 10.2 should fix this, I believe a number of customers have email issues with that release
