Email Setup with standard pop account

Hi All,

I work in an organization where we don't have our own Exchange servers, so our emails are managed externally. We receive them through a standard POP3 set up in Outlook and both sending/receiving works fine.

However when i place the POP and SMTP address into the k1000 in the configuration settings, the box itself can receive emails, it just can't send them out... Troubleshooting shows that it comes up with a "Relaying Denied" error.

I found out today that our providers are doing some changes to their configuration.

Our Outlook still works fine, so my question is if someone could explain to me what makes the Kbox settings so different as opposed to say Outlook settings for a POP3 Account?

Regards,

Answer Summary:
Since you are getting Errors of email not sending out, and uses an External SMTP Server, you need to check on the setups to allow anonymous relay to connect to K1000. Once the External SMTP Server is properly setup, K1000 will forward email to this External SMTP server.

K1000 has a built-in internal SMTP email Server. If the 'Use SMTP Server' in Network settings is not checked means it's running and always listening and ready to process outgoing email.

K1000 is also designed to receive email from a Pop3 email Server. If the Pop3 is not in use, you can use the built-in internal SMTP server to accept incoming email.
