Error 1619

Hi everyone!
I recently had to reformat. Now I can't seem to install my Microsoft Publisher 2000 program. The Microsoft Office 2000 disk installed just fine. When I try to install Publisher I get this error: "The installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows installer package"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Linda

Yes, installing the publisher 2000 on windows 98. I installed it with no problems before, but since I had to reformat- this error comes up.

what is the version of ms installer you are using.
type msiexec in the command prompt and see if the version is 2.0 or upgrade the installer to version 2.0 from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4b6140f9-2d36-4977-8fa1-6f8a0f5dca8f&DisplayLang=en

then try installing the application again.

Yes, I've already been to that page & downloaded the 2.0. When I try to run that program, it says I already have it installed.
