Error 1918: Installing ODBC driver

Hi Everybody,

(Sorry for my English, English is not my native language)

I create a lot of MSI package with AdminStudio often when my package contains the creation of an ODBC alias I get the message "Error 1918: Error installing ODBC driver Oracle ODBC Driver, ODBC error 13: ..."

I am testing my MSI packaging on Windows NT with MDAC 2.7 and on Windows XP with MDAC 2.8 and each time I get the same error.

Did someone already meet this problem ??

Thanks for any help

Hello JGL59,

I've had many problems when I use Wise Package Studio to create ODBC entries. Because of this, I now add the neccessary registry keys found in HKLM\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ to the registry table instead of using the ODBC tables.

(PS: Your English seems fine to me)

Actually, check to make sure you're not adding the ODBC in both the registry key above and the ODBC table (whatever it's called, I forget). Sometimes both are picked up and a problem results two things try to create the same thing in the same place.

Hi Guys,

Actually VikingLoki is right I was trying to create the ODBC in both the registry key above and the ODBC table.

That works now, Many thanks
