Alright here I can clarify your doubt upto some extent,

1) First I will go with organisation prospective, If I am a ABC organisation where I am not developing any application just using the applications provided by third parties. For my company I need a standard/unified method of deployment of aplications for all users, at this movement in market Flexera has mejority of the market capture and I felt reliable for my company.

2) Here They have 4-5 major products and in that For Installation (InstallAnywhere and InstallSheild)

- For Application readyness (Adminstudio)

- For License Manager (FlexNET)

3) My need is only unified deployment not the build and Release the new applications or installations right so from the above products Adminstudio will come with Installsheild in it with limited functionality when compared with InstallShield Standalone.

4) As a Application packager we basically work with Repackaging the legacy installations (Which can be done by inbuilt tool Repackager in Adminstudio) and Editing the vendor msi's with tuner or Installshied (Again Which comes with Adminstudio it self no need to buy new licenses)

5) Adminstudio wil come with some other features according to the licenses you buy like Vertual Pack....etc(check the Flexera Website)

6) Some people need the InstallShield standalone application for their purposes like building the new releases and creating some legacy installations like that (Not aware of more functionality :))

hope this helps

You can download the trial versions of these two and use them for 21 days and see the differences between them. It is the best way to self learn.. Explore both the products and whichever suits your requirements most, purchase that.
