get host name of virtual machine on Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2

I am not the owner of the server which makes it more difficult and don't know the machine name or the admin password so all I can get is a logon prompt. One VM which I want to access has a description but not a host name.

It does display the MAC address etc. but not the machine name.

So couldn't the owner give you the hostname?
If not wouldn't it be possible to use a boot-cd on that virtual machine to be able to access the registry hive and load that to find out what the ComputerName (REG_SZ) entry under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName\ComputerName says?

Yeah, problem is I don't really know the owner, still working on that
Since I can't log on to the machine I can't get into the registry. If I could I could get the machine name that way....
All I can really get to is the control console on the server with the list of machines...

I didn't mean starting the virtual machine but for example in vmware you can install the OS using the ex. XP cd but in this time as the OS is already installed you boot up on a boot-cd as BartPE and then you have access to the (virtual) filesystem. From there you can access the registry hive file and load that into regedit.

I'm pursuing that avenue too (getting the sysprep image so we can change pw)
thanks
