Getting switch port details in machine inventory

Hi

Not sure this is possible, but it would be very handy - I'd like to see port info in machine inventory (eg Gi5/9 etc), is there any clever way to do this? Hoping that there may be some CDP-foo in the agent that can discover this (manual entry would be useless) - has anyone done anything similar?

Thanks,

If you are able to read this out with your OS you can fill this info into the KBox.

I have two ideas:

1. SNMP could deliver that info, here you will need a trap catcher which can give that info further.

2. a switch software (query the vendor) who can give the info in a log life.

In both ways you simply need to access that log, match with the MAC and do a short cusom inventory rule
