GIMP 2.6

Application Name: GIMP 2.6
Download Location: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gimp-2.6.4-i686-setup.exe
OS Version: Windows XP SP3
Appdeploy Repackager Version: 1.1

Notes:
GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.

While this recipe was created on a Windows XP system, it was a very straight-forward installation with all required files neatly placed in the application directory and HKLM/Software hive of the registry. It also includes several default file associations (HKCR). Therefore, I foresee no issues deploying this package on other versions of Windows.

Feedback appreciated.

Thanks for this; however i could not get this to work successfully. i could install it just by clicking the made msi file when logged in as admin. however when i tried to deploy the package via group policy to a computer i don't think at startup group policy waited until the app had deployed.

any thoughts?

best wishes,

James

Did you see it tried to install by viewing the Application Event log? If so, I'd turn on verbose logging and try again to see why it might not be working for you.

If you can double-click and the MSI installs, I think we are looking at a general deployment issue which would be better discussed here: http://www.appdeploy.com/messageboards/tt.asp?forumid=2

James,

Instead of installing it through a startup script try to use software deployment instead, still GPO.

Bob;
I down loaded your XML file and after some trial and erros it worked. I did realize that I needed to load the app first before running the build of the msi file. Hope I did that correctly. My orginal try would work but I would end up with two gimps listed in add/remove programs.

thanks Kris
