Google Chrome won't install successfully when pushed from KACE

For some reason, Google Chrome will not install successfully when I try to push it from KACE. I've had this issue with several versions now and have had to manually install. I've tried to push a premade Chrome update from within KACE using schedules, as well as creating a Managed Install and had the same results. The issue is that it will push/install correctly if a machine is currently logged in with an admin account, but if a standard user or no user is logged in than the install won't happen. However, in KACE it always shows as "succeeded". I have no problem pushing out/installing any other software through either method, only Chrome, so KACE has the proper admin access to install to machines. Has anyone else encountered this? Our systems are 64bit Win 10.

Under settings there is the credential manager.  Use that and create a user with access to the devices

then create a script and choose those credentials

Comments:
  • EDIT: Ok looks like scripting using credentials worked! Although FYI to anyone who reads this, I had to use "run a batch file" instead of "launch a program" within scripting to get it to successfully find/run the .msi. Anyway thanks, for this! - winterelegy 5 years ago

What media are you using to deploy Chrome?

Comments:
  • What do you mean by what media? I'm using Kace K1000, using one of the premade updates from the KACE catalog and have also tried making a managed install to install the Chrome .msi - winterelegy 5 years ago
    • Which msi, the regular one or the enterprise offline installer?

      e.g.
      https://cloud.google.com/chrome-enterprise/browser/download/?utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=2019-chromebrowser-paidmed-paiddisplay-other-chromebrowserent&brand=GCEJ&utm_term=downloadnow&gclid=CjwKCAiAqOriBRAfEiwAEb9oXfVuuS2tce4Zxj_0RhHTQ0YhD0WIroDeccKYPx0PLzejZsfwFnANgBoCwwcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#chrome-browser-download

Also a Script might better here, Managed Installs always use SYSTEM user for installs, and a script could use whatever credentials you tell it to use to run an MSI\EXI\BAT etc. - Channeler 5 years ago
      • Well I'm using whatever KACE provides in it's catalog. But I have also tried with the msi found in the Enterprise Bundle. How would you write the script to tell it to use specific credentials - winterelegy 5 years ago
