HELP!!!jre 1.4.2_11

Has anyone successfully installed jre1.4.2.11 using the extracted MSI?

Trouble i am facing is
If i install the extracted msi straight without an mst it will install jre component in C:\program file \java\jre1.4.2_11

But since an MSt is required to put some settings , when i use this MST the jre component is getting installed under C:\j2sdxxx

When only MSI is used both C:\j2sdxxx and C:\program file \java\jre1.4.2_11 appears but with MSt only C:\j2sdxxx gets installed . In both cases default INSTALLDIR =C:\j2sdxxx

What could be the possible reason for this???
Help!!!

I have to submit this tomorrow...

What do you mean with "This mst"? Did you create an MST using ORCA? If you create your own MST using for instance Orca, the transform will not be different then the original installation, unless you change it. So, when applying the MST, the installpath will remain the same. Change the properties you desire in the property table in the MST and you should be on your way.

Hi Novice_123,

I've figured out that you shouldn't use the mst that gets unpacked along with the msi. If you look at it in Orca you will find that it actually doesn't do much - not sure what it does but when i did JRE 1.5.0.7 I ignored it and so far no problems. You're better off creating your own Transform through either Orca or Wise Install Tailor.
Have a look at the thread on JRE Version 1.5.0.7 and this will let you know what you need to do in order to get your msi and mst deployed.

Good luck!
