How do I ghost a failing laptop disk and replace it?

Situation: My Dell Laptop disk is failing. Dell is sending me a new disk. They said I should ghost the old disk and then restore the image to the new disk.
Question: I dont understand how to physically do this. What media do I ghost to? I have used ghost on a desktop with multiple disk drives, but I am not certain how to do this on a laptop? I have a LAN.

Thank you,
Fred Jacobowitz

If you install Ghost onto your laptop, you would have the option to make a Ghost backup into CDRs, or you could make a Ghost boot disk and do a Ghost CDR backup right from the floppy. Otherwise if you have the equipment available, you could use an adapter to plug the laptop harddrive into a desktop PC and either save a Ghost image onto the desktop's harddrive (fat32 only) or plug both the new and old drives into a desktop and do a disk to disk transfer.

Lots of options, none super simple.... :)
