How do I uninstall a patch? Need to remove KB4011626.

So I have tried using the scripts section to uninstall this patch and none of my scripts work.

I am using this as a guide: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/24b5a52c-ea2f-44e7-9fd3-57aae4d44ba4/how-to-uninstall-kb4011626-and-other-office-updates?forum=ConfigMgrCompliance#24b5a52c-ea2f-44e7-9fd3-57aae4d44ba4

Then in KACE I set it to run the script but it is not uninstalling the patch. Is there a better method to do this, or can I rollback a patch?

We always had success with an Online KScript that launches wusa.exe from directory %WINDIR% with options /uninstall /KB:3035583 /quiet /norestart

I have several scripts that use the same format and just replace the KB number with the one you want gone. The article you linked says it doesn't work for Office, but that may be an Office 32/64-bit problem in relation to a Windows 32/64-bit OS... Always worked for us.

  • Thanks, I was trying to get that to work but I didn't have the %WINDIR% in there so I will give that a shot as well. - omorganx 6 years ago

The ability to Rollback or not a patch is not determined by KACE, it's the vendor who grants or denies the rollback for certain patches.(in this case Microsoft)

If your patch says Rollback "no" you could try this to remove it:
"How to Uninstall a Windows Application Patch when Rollback Feature is not available"

  • Alrighty wasn't able to get the patch removal to work but I found out that the patch that I mentioned has been superseded by another patch. However my KACE is only showing patches as recent as 1/9 and it came out on 1/18. My kace catalog is up to date as of 1/23. How often does the catalog get updated with new patches? - omorganx 6 years ago
    • Could you post a link with information about this KB4011626 being superseded

      It appears is not....

Is this why you want to remove it?

      • Hi there,

Yea we have a lot of our systems unable to forward email attachments due to the patch. I managed to get a script to install the hotfix so I think I'm good now. I just didn't see the hotfix for it. - omorganx 6 years ago
