Well, I did get it to build the msi, but whn I went to install it on the second computer, I just got errors. Looks like it was having trouble with the registry.

The final build is due to release today, and should address the registry issues you are seeing which was identified (and hopefully corrected) in testing.

Where is the new release?

I guess there is a delay on the release.

Friday was the plan, but there are still a few last minute issues being worked out. I won't speculate what day, but I fully expect the release to happen this week (by Friday the 14th at the latest).

I am trying to repack Nero Ultra 7 so I can put it on my other computer. For some reason, when I tried to install Nero on my first computer, it failed. I thought I would install it on a clean machine and do a repack, but the repacker freezes near the end of the compare. I hope this is corrected in the new release so I don't have to completely rebuild my disk.

If you are not repackaging on a clean system, I would strongly recommend you do. While I've never seen the snapshot hang as you describe it, I would expect that the more junk on a system that needs to be scanned and compared the greater the potential for problems. That said, you should definitely not repackage an MSI and Nero 7 is provided as an MSI by the vendor. Actually my Nero file is an EXE. I'm not worried about a silent install. When I try to install Nero on my main computer, it tells me that I need Directx 9c. I previously installed Directx 9c, but the dxdiag says it is still Directx 8. My test machine actually say Directx 9. I'm trying to overcome that error to get Nero to install on my primary machine without having to completely rebuild it.

I am trying to repack on a machine with very few programs installed. I use it to test new programs before I put them on my primary machine.

If you run that EXE setup and then look to your %TEMP% folder, you'll probably find the MSI it is hiding from you.

What I really need is a way to uninstall Directx so I can reinstall it correctly.

How do I deal with the registry part? I don't know what to select or remove.

It takes a bit of skill, but it is not hard to develop. You need to remove the files and registry items that do not belong to your setup. The registry is a bit more challenging-- I recommend removing things with names like Cache, MRU, Temp, Crypto, etc. The good news is that the things you remove will be remembered for next time (along with the description you specify). Use a clean machine, perform only the installation and leave HKCR alone.

All that said, repackaging DirectX could be a problem as it contains many system files. If it insists on v8, use the redistributable for v8 prior to your application installation. You cannot repackage MSI setups without problems and you'll see hundreds of recommendations not to do so throughout AppDeploy.
