How does the Kace MAC Agent inventory software?
On a Mac I have an application that was installed into the "Applications" folder. The Kace Agents software inventory picked it up correctly.
If I remove the application from the Applications folder Kace Agent still shows as the app being installed.
Even if I remove the Mac from the inventoried systems and remove the application from the software list once the Kace Agent is reinstalled it picks up the application in question again even though it isn't in the Applications folder.
Can someone tell me where the agent get's its list off installed application from?

The agent leverages /usr/sbin/system_profiler to gather the info.
This can also be seen via the System Information GUI via /Applications/Utilities or through the About This Mac in the Menu.

I have removed all Files and Folder that I could find for this specific application and yet it still does appear in both Kace and the System Profiler so it must use the Profiler.
Guess my next question should be is "How does the System Profiler" find installed apps. - jsoutter 9 years ago-
I believe that is uses Spotlight. I've had machines that don't report applications properly in the past and I have had to rebuild the Spotlight index to resolve the issue. - chucksteel 9 years ago

The agent finds all .app folders on the machine, not just those in the Applications folder. If you just moved the application to another location on the drive it will still appear in the inventory.
