How to disable IE 11 in Windows 7

04/29/2014 4082 views

Hello All,

My Supervisor has asked that we disable Internet Explorer on all of our Public PC's due to the Flash Security Bug.  I know you can disable IE by using the "Turn Windows Features on and off" form the control panel but I was wondering if anyone has a script or bat file that would do this en mas with the Kbox.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you!

  • If only Group Policy was good at anything...
  • I know. We thought about that but even though these computers in question are in our Domain the users on them are all local users on the individual PC's. the best we can do in group policy is make it so IE wont work (Setup a proxy) for the staff profiles that are in the domain.
  • thanks TM!

One of these should work for you:

wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:2841134

  • Be sure to report back if any of these worked for you.
    • I was able to get dism.exe /online /Disable-Feature /FeatureName:Internet-Explorer - See more at: http://www.itninja.com/question/how-to-disable-ie-11-in-windows-7#sthash.ioPNcMuq.dpuf

to work like a charm. Thanks

You could use group policy to create a software restriction or AppLocker policy (if available) to deny iexplore.exe from running. Easy to revert once a patch is released...
