How to implement shell extension with a App-V package ?

Hello everybody

Currently, I'm training on creating package in App-v. I understand that "App-V 5.0 Sequencer " excluded shell extensions. On specialized web sites (Aaron PARKER), it is specified that it is possible to add functionalities in the context menu (as winrar with Add to archive ).

I didn't understand the method because it does not work. Can anyone give me details ?

Thanks for your help

This method only works if you are using the App-V sequencer generated MSI to install your sequence.

If you are using SCCM or App-V Infrastructure then this method is not applicable and not possible.

However, you could use the registry configuration mentioned and push that to a machine (outide of the sequence) to enable the context menus.

You'd have to resolve the correct paths to the properties he's noted and the product name of your sequence.

If the shell extension functionality of an application is required, then it is normal to not provide the application as a sequence, but package it instead - because of the loss of functionality.

Link to Aaron Parker's StealthPuppy article provided here for reference - http://stealthpuppy.com/adding-shell-extensions-to-app-v-packages/

Hope that helps,
