Iconia Tab W500 - PXE Boot Error - TFTP Error (File not found)
Hi all-
We have a working K2000 PXE Setup as we are able to PXE boot any number of different Dell workstation and laptop models. We just received about 15 Acer Iconia Tab W500 tablets and we would like to be able to PXE boot these devices to bring down an OS. When I attempt to PXE boot, I can estabish a link but before it gets to the K2000, it tells me
PXE-T01: File not found.
PXE-E3B: TFTP Error. File not found.
I'm looking for clarification. My first instinct is that I don't have the rights drivers loaded into the KBE for these Iconia Tablets and that's why they are unable to connect to the K2000 but would like to hear from others if they think this is the case or if it might be something else.

Thanks, nheyne. I've been reviewing the tablet documentation but it doesn't make any specific mention that it's a UEFI BIOS versus non-UEFI nor is there anything in the BIOS that jumps out. Regardless, we ran into another issue trying to do system encryption on this brand of tablet so we may need to look at a different model. Thanks for your help with this. - dtobias_keenan 10 years ago

The K2 is not yet compatible with a PXE/UEFI environment.
Not familiar with that tablet but if it's like others, you won't be able to PXE boot it. You'll need to make a UEFI boot key.

Hi nheyne....I saw another one of your threads on the process you had to go through. Is there any further reading I can do on why PXE doesn't seem to work with the tablets and why UEFI needs to be used instead? I'm just curious about why this is. Thanks! - dtobias_keenan 10 years ago

The limitation is in the K2 OS. A future update is supposed to add that functionality. The PXE and UEFI specifications are compatible with one another, but using both is just not supported yet in KACE. - nheyne 10 years ago
Nheyne provided me with information regarding issues in the K2 and the version we're running that may be preventing us from being able to PXE boot an Iconia W500 tablet.
