in Kscript, how to check contents of a custom software inventory field

On K1000 version 5.5, I have a custom software inventory field called FirefoxChannel that picks up a text line from a Firefox .INI file. In a Kscript, I want to see if that custom software inventory field contains a particular string. In other words, FirefoxChannel contains (or does not contain) "-esr".

I tried to use Windows' FindStr for this, but the Kscript does not appear to be checking its returned errorlevel correctly. (You'd think that, after all these years, this would have been fixed.)

Is there another way to check the contents of a custom software inventory field from a Kscript?                             Sande

Rather than have the KScript check the value of the custom inventory field I would probably create a smart label that does that and then target the script at the smart label.

create a report on the custom filed and use contains -esr in the filter
