Inaccessible Boot Device after Win10 Pro scripted installation - Precision 5820 Tower

Hello the community :-)

I have a Win10 Pro K2000 scripted installation which works fine with a bunch of DELL products (Optiplex 5040, Latitude E5550, Precision 7720, Latitude E5580, Optiplex 3060, Latitude 5490).

We just acquired a Precision 5820 Tower but my scripted installation doesn't work:

The "copying windows files" is very quick (from 0% to 100% within 2 seconds), the rest of the deployment seems to be fine, the drivers install OK, but when the machine reboots after the OS installation I got the :( Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. Stop code: INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE.

The hard drive is a Mini-sas PC401 NVME SK Hynix 512GB.

I recreated the Pre boot KBE with the latest version from the Quest website, usinf the latest SDA Media Manager and the latest Win10 ADK and WinPE option, problem remains.

I disabled the SD Card Reader in the BIOS, just to be sure (another error occured when the SD card reader was enabled)

I am very suspiscious about the quick "Copying windows files" stage, as if it didn't copy anything at all, if the hard drive was not properly recognized at that stage.

EDIT: forgot to post the BIOS config I set:

- UEFI boot sequence

- Secure boot disabled

- Integrated NIC: UEFI Network Stack enabled

- Advanced Boot Options: Enable Lagacy Option ROMS disabled

Any idea what goes wrong with this type of hard drive and to fix this issue ?

Thanks a lot for your help :-)

Olivier

  • Hi Olivier

I'm also having the same issue with a Toshiba NVMe drive I have managed to get passed it creating the UEFI partitions but then get the following message

"windows setup could not install one or more boot-critical drivers"

Will be following this post with you hopefully someone can help us with these NVMe drivers.

  • Hi Obi,

I took interest in your post because we use some of the same model devices that you use however we have not run into this issue specifically.

Would you be able to do the following:

    SATA Operation to AHCI

Advanced Boot Option - Enable Legacy Options ROM's

Also take a look at the boot order and verify that all Windows Boot Manager options are at the top of the list.

Are you using any Mini-sas PC401 NVME SK Hynix 512GB in any of your other models?

Please let me know the outcome of this. - SecureITGroup 4 years ago

I finally could resolve my issue: download the latest WinPE10 drivers from the Quest website, and add the Storage drivers for the Precision 5820 Tower from the DELL website, then create a new KBE with the manipulator.
