Installing Office 365 with Project and/or Visio 2016

I have been tasked to push Office 365 to the company.  With this installation, I have a group of users across the company that will need to be upgraded to Project 2016 or Visio 2016 and some with both Project and Visio 2016.  I found out by pushing things to my test machine that I am not able to install Project or Visio 2016 with a machine running Office 365 and vice versa.  The Office 365 install is located on a Client Drop location with Project and Visio 2016 in the KACE software catalog.  What is the best way to successfully install Office 365 with Visio or Project 2016 or Office 365 with both Project and Visio 2016 on a machine?

Using the Office installer to upgrade from current installs of Office on the computer is a hit and miss - sometimes it works, other times it wont. If Office is running it fails etc.

Personally we have seen the most success when we use the Office Scrub tool  from MS, and then installing Office.

Keep in mind, I use SCCM and we are able to manage user expectations with prompts and dialogs, regarding reboots, install times etc.

  • You can pretty much do the same with the K1000.
    You can :
    - End any existing processes
    - Prompt the User for installation and or allow them to snooze
    - Add a completion notice
    - Reboot if required, or just for the heck of it, since some users are anti-booters
    - Update the current app to assure you have the latest patches
    - Collect any errors on log file
