iTunes Default folder location.

We seem to be getting more and more requests to have iTunes installed on our teacher/staff computers.   I have a way to deploy it using KACE but when it is launched it creates the iTunes Media folders in the user's Music folders.

The problem we have is that the Document folders (My Documents, My Music, My Videos, etc..) are all redirected to the file server and each user  has a limited quota that they can save.   This has caused issues with people plugging in their personal iPhones and iPads and they sync and run backups to the computer and it fills up their storage and in some cases causes the software to crash.   We have asked them not to do that but we are dealing with end users and they do not always listen.

Long story short I was wondering if there was something I could run in my batch file that installs iTunes that could automatically change the default location of the media folders it creates.   I would like to move it up to the root user folder something like this  c:\Users\%username%\iTunes instead of c:\Users\%username%\Music.   That way the folder stays local on the computer and I do not care if the data gets lost.  At least it will not be on the file server.

I thought maybe this could be done using the transforms functions but I cannot seem to find an answer.

You can better exclude redirected folders from the policy.

Basicly drills down to go to the policy itself, go to User Configuration, then Windows Settings. There you will find Folder redirection. From there choose the folder Music right click it and you will see its Properties. Go to the second tab Settings and at the section Policy Removal push the radio button that says "Redirect the folder back to the local userprofile location when policy is removed"
Make sure the Policy removal is set to "Redirect the folder back to the local userprofile location when policy is removed". Otherwise you will have to move them manually.
If they have a lot of music it's going to hang there logon for a bit.

But this article goes in to more detail.

The iTunes settings are contained in two XML files that are created in the user profile folders. You need to configure your test install of iTunes to the settings you need and then create your deployment so that these two XML files are installed to the user profiles before they run iTunes for the first time.
