K2000 - Cannot PXE to KACE - TFTP Client does not accept options

Hello,

I recently have been unable to get computers to PXE boot into KACE. Here is the TFTP logs:

Aug 29 14:34:16 k2000 in.tftpd[7381]: RRQ from 10.2.26.141 filename vesamenu.c32
Aug 29 14:34:16 k2000 in.tftpd[7380]: RRQ from 10.2.26.141 filename pxelinux.cfg/01-54-ee-75-81-a4-64
Aug 29 14:34:16 k2000 in.tftpd[7379]: RRQ from 10.2.26.141 filename pxelinux.cfg/01431d1e-4254-cb11-9531-9f916ea1ea8f
Aug 29 14:34:16 k2000 in.tftpd[7378]: RRQ from 10.2.26.141 filename kbox2000.0
Aug 29 14:34:16 k2000 in.tftpd[7377]: tftp: client does not accept options

I have made sure the DHCP options 66 and 67 are set appropriately. I have even tried using the FQDN for Kace instead of the IP.

Does anyone have any ideas? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

  • I just wanted to add that there is more information than this, but I didn't want to initially bombard anyone with too much info, so please let me know what/if any additional information is needed! - LlamaStew 7 years ago
  • what make of computers are these? - SMal.tmcc 7 years ago
    • Lenovo. T450s, T460s, and W550s in particular. - LlamaStew 7 years ago
  • Ok next question do dell's pxe boot ok? and other desktop w/s's? - SMal.tmcc 7 years ago
    • We are an all Lenovo establishment, so I cannot say. Everything has been fine in the past. I've used this K2000 for over a year with Lenovo laptops. - LlamaStew 7 years ago
  • I had the same problem ONLY with Lenovo T450, T550 and X1 Carbon 3rd Gen laptops. EVERY other HP, Lenovo, and Dell worked fine. I tried updating the BIOS at least 3 different times over the course of a few months thinking that would resolve it. I have opened my support case so I can get this fixed once and for all. Thank you! - swalker804 7 years ago
    • The W550 also did not PXE boot, obviously these are all in the same family. The T460/T560 PXE booted fine for me. - swalker804 7 years ago

We have run into this on the newer lenovo laptops (t450, t460, t560).  They should boot to kace ok via a boot stick made from the same kbe pxe is using but not thru pxe itself.  They run out of memory in the pxe stack.

You need to contact support and tell them you need the backend Lenovo PXE boot fix.  They have to attach a tether to your box and make some backend adjustments.
