KACE Product Support Question

K2000 drivers_postinstall write protected?

04/04/2013 3787 views

I'm running K2000 3.5.76460.

My issue is about the drivers_postinstall share. I could create and delete folders and files there (at least before updating to 3.5 as far as I remember right), but suddenly this does not work anymore.

When I try to create a folder I'm getting an "access denied" error.

I still can read the folder and it's contents, but I can't write to drivers_postinstall anymore.

There was an issue in the past I read about that was fixed with the "drivers feed patch" or something.
I tried the driver feed with the E6520 package but removed it later. Maybe this caused my problem?

Any suggestions on this? Thank you in advance!

Ours is the same, if you look at permissions everyone had read rights and nobody has all rights.  I believe this is by design to keep you from messing up the driver feed.  You may want to open a ticket to verify this.

We have gotten around this issue by going into the driver feed and changing the settings, saving them and then changing them back.  Also try downloading a small driver feed and see if that resets the permissions. It shouldn't be doing this but this is how we got around the issue. It if persists contact support.

  • "downloading a small driver feed" did it for me, suddenly it worked again.
I will forward this to the support anyhow...

This is an unsual issue but occurs since 3.4SP1 (3.4.6something) and also in the 3.5GA.

Check which user is the owner (I assume the user nobody)

If yes, contact the support. A L3 will fix it via webex or via tether.
I've read the issue will be fixed in 3.5SP1 but not shure if it is really fixed then.

This is a known issue and downloading a Driver Feed will fix the permissions issue.
