If the old one was not an Advanced format and the new is would cause an issue.(look for the AF logo on the label) You would need to add the drivers.

What do you mean "refuse to take the previous image"? Does it show some form of error message? Is this new hard drive different from the original in a way that may require a change of driver?

If the machines are all identical specs, maybe it's a different hardware issue than the hard drive.  Sounds like hardware from what you describe if everything else is identical.

  • the hardware the same but what do you guys do when you have 2 different hardware how to push an image to that machine - brighstarcuit 11 years ago
  • sysprep and have all the needed drivers in the image

I have the same problem. We have 60 notebooks (Lat2120 all identical) and for some reason about 6 of them will not take an image and come up with boot or hdd errors. The image works fine on 90% of the notebooks, but these few just won't.

  • try swapping the hdd between one that works and one that does not and see if the problem stays with the pc or the hdd - SMal.tmcc 11 years ago
