KACE agent upgrade to 9.100.202 locks up some Windows 10 clients

Thanks for any help on this.

I am at the tail end of upgrading our KACE workstations to 9.100.202 from 8.1.52. Most machines were fine but I am seeing the KACE agent install locking up workstations so that the only option is to hard reboot the machine (power button). The machine will continue to lock up unless the agent is uninstalled. I think it locks up on the first inventory after the upgrade. The KACE 1000 console doesn't show that the agent was actually upgraded.

I have tried a managed install, GPO install, as well as a clean install many times. Hoping someone experienced this and has a solution.

Thank you.

could be your version of windows 10 is not supported on that kbox version

you should run the 9.1.318 upgrade al least if you do not want to go to 10

then deploy  the 9.1.204 clients less buggy.

      • have you tried disabling the firewall and AV to see if that lets it process thru on one of those machines? - SMal.tmcc 4 years ago

I haven't but I will this afternoon. Thanks.
A test machine locked up after installing the 904 agent.
I am thinking that since this occurs on only 8 or 10 machines (so far) maybe try reimaging one of them and trying the newer agent. - DE9_sd 4 years ago
    • that can be caused by a few things so we need to eliminate as many as we can.

Is the amp.conf populated properly on a problem child? (compare to working machine)

Another thing when you uninstalled did you make sure the C:\ProgramData\Quest\KACE and all contents was deleted?

Right click on MSI and run manually as administrator - no switches (put in full host name manually) - SMal.tmcc 4 years ago
