In that case it will be difficult to segregate software counts, unless that's not what you are looking to really get. If you want to track license usage then you should really check out the license asset type, it will allow you to enter licensing information and then tie that to software records. - chucksteel 9 years ago

Without using the asset module, the software would need to support you finding a way to get the license. Past that, you would also need a way to separate the different departments. This could be LDAP, IP range, just need to be something unique to the department. You should then be able to report on the software by department.
