KACE Reporting - Maximum number of rules allowed to filter records

Hi,

I am relatively new to KACE. I have been tasked to generate a software inventory report and would like to know if there is any maximum limit to the number of rules that can be specified to filter the records while we generate a report. I'll need to specify a significant number of exclusions. I am using the KACE K1000 Systems Management Appliance.

Thanks!

If you are talking about using the wizard then you can make it quite complex with loads of rows, however I would recommend you build a report with a few lines in and then copy the report, open in SQL and start to learn the power of the WHERE statements at the bottom of the report ( and how they relate to your created wizard), as that ultimately will be a better way to product custom complex reports.

Comments:
  • in addition the wizard tends to create extreme complext SQL statements, which run for a long time, and if you have multiple reports like that this could have a real heavy impact on the performance.
The best way to build such things is learning SQL, running the query against the db from outside (using mysqladmin or similar) and optimize then. This is regulary much faster. - Nico_K 5 years ago
